The Journey Begins
Seven intrepid members of the Quizzic Alley team set off from Canberra at just after 7am, bound for Harry Potter: The Exhibition in Sydney. Spirits were high, snacks were packed, and excitement bubbled like a freshly brewed potion. Nearly Legless Mick took the wheel, while Ineffable Issy and Looney Lilly kept us entertained with games—and a surprisingly competitive quiz that Nearly Legless Mick technically lost due to “creative abbreviations.”

The team met at Quizzic Alley in Canberra before the road trip to see Harry Potter: The Exhibition.
We kicked things off with the first episode of the Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast—a gentle and surprisingly delightful start to the day. “Fun and informative,” declared Zoe, our social media guru, and honestly, she nailed it.
Exhibition Details: What You Need to Know
Location: Fever Pavilion, Sydney Olympic Park
Experience: A self-guided immersive exhibition featuring authentic props, costumes, and interactive magical activities
Tickets: Available online (search “Harry Potter: The Exhibition Sydney”)
Cost: Approximately $39–$49 for adults, with add-ons like Butterbeer available inside
We booked an 11:30am session on a Canberra public holiday Monday—an elite strategy, if I may say so. The result? Minimal crowds, no queues, and the freedom to explore at our own pace. Highly recommend.
Stepping Into the Wizarding World
After the obligatory group photos (and a ‘difficult’ trivia question from staff—“What potion brings you luck?” Really?), we stepped inside.
The exhibition is divided into themed rooms inspired by iconic Hogwarts locations. Upon entry, you choose your Hogwarts house (Ravenclaw pride, obviously), and complete interactive activities to earn house points throughout the experience.
The first magical moment? Entering your name and watching it appear across the Marauder’s Map that covered the walls in the first room we entered. Slight hiccup: Nearly Legless Mick only managed to input “Nearly,” which feels… accurate.
Highlights from the Day
For me, the standout was the costumes—seeing them up close is something special. Gilderoy Lockhart’s ensemble was a personal favourite. Yes, he’s ridiculous: that’s the point. Also, Kenneth Branagh. Enough said.

The Hungarian Horntail dragon was another showstopper—impressive, imposing, and very photogenic.
As for the team:
- Brydie: Loved brewing potions and the Quidditch game
- Zoe: Obsessed with Remus Lupin’s costume
- Issy: Just happy to be with the team (bless)
- Mick: All about the interactive elements
- Lilly: “The magic!” (very on-brand)
- Emily: Dominated the Quidditch challenge
Top Tips for Visiting
- Go with fellow fans—this is not one for reluctant Muggles.
- Book off-peak sessions for a more relaxed experience.
- Take your time with the costume details—they’re incredible.
- Repeat activities to boost your house points (competitive? us?).
- Skip eating there—food options are limited.
- Butterbeer is fun, but at $15… too much and too sweet. Manage expectations.
Final Verdict

While the exhibition shines in immersion and visual detail, some elements feel a little light for the price and not that interactive. Those who had been to similar installations before, they felt a little underwhelmed but the newbies L.O.V.E.D. it. Either way, it’s an enjoyable and magical outing—especially if you lean into the experience.
Scores:

Value for Money: 6/10
Overall: 30/50
Would I recommend it? Yes—with the right expectations. Go for the costumes, stay for the magic, and bring your most competitive house spirit.
