All Aboard the Wizards Express!

Calling all witches and wizards! On Sunday 20th October the Wizards Express is pulling into Canberra Railway Museum for a day of magical fun and Australia’s most magical store will be there!

Quizzic Alley is partnering with the Canberra Railway Museum Museum to bring you MAGIC AT THE MUSEUM, complete with the chance to sit in a train carriage just like the one that carried students to Hogwarts from Platform 9¾!!! But it doesn’t stop there! The famous blue Ford Anglia will also be making an appearance.

Nearly Legless Mick, one of the owners of Quizzic Alley and a huge Harry Potter fan says he is looking forward to unwrapping a chocolate frog in a train compartment with his friends.

“What Harry Potter fan doesn’t want to do that? We’re so excited to be involved in this event ahead of Halloween. We’re working with the people from the Canberra Railway Museum to decorate the carriages, create magical photo opportunities and just deliver something really special,” said Mick.

Headlight shining and smoke billowing, the Wizards Express will greet visitors as they climb in and explore the waiting passenger cars, and imagine themselves being whisked away to wizarding school!  Visitors can also explore more of the spooks and spirits that haunt the museum over the Halloween season, dine on magical treats and refreshments at the picnic area, or take part in fun activities and win prizes!

The event is part of the museum’s efforts to raise funds for the restoration of steam locomotive 3016, built in Manchester in 1903, and now in need of costly repairs to run again. The team will use the refurbished steam train to run rail tours around the region.

“It’s a major undertaking,” explained event coordinator Ewout Rohling. “We’re a fully volunteer-run organisation and we rely on the generosity of the public and the boundless passion of our volunteers to bring these projects to fruition. People find themselves drawn to steam trains. They have a magical quality all of their own. We’re going to bring that magic to Canberra.”
